North Wales

North Wales

Rhostryfan. Eryri. Anglesey. The places that made the stories.

Margaret Baldock grew up in Rhostryfan, a small quarrying village on the slopes of the Llyn Peninsula foothills, within sight of the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia). The landscape, the communities, and the histories of that part of Wales have shaped everything she has written.

She now lives in Amlwch, on the north coast of the Isle of Anglesey — another place with deep roots, strong tides, and its own particular character. Anglesey has a quietness that invites reflection. It is the kind of place where stories settle.

The slate quarries of Gwynedd, the Welsh language, the tight-knit communities of the mountains, the sea air of the island — these are not backdrops in Margaret’s work. They are part of the texture of the stories themselves.

More to follow. Margaret’s connection to North Wales — its people, its landscapes, and its stories — is a thread that runs through all of her work.
